Show Respect In Everything You Do And Say

Your employees have feelings. When you’re caught up in the moment, it’s possible for you to say or do anything. Your employees need to feel as though they are respected, which is why you have to be cautious about what you do and say on a daily basis.

Appreciate Your Staff

It’s important to work hard towards appreciating your employees. Go out of your way to say “Thank you” and “Job well done” when they have done something that is worthy of your praise. If you achieve company goals, consider a party or some other reward for your employees.

When you’re able to show them that you respect them and appreciate all of their hard work, they will be more likely to stay, reducing your turnover rate. They will also be more productive.

Avoid Disrespect

If you yell at an employee or belittle them (in public or in private), all of the hard work that you have put into building them up will be lost. They won’t remember the last hundred times you praised them. Instead, they’ll remember when you yelled at them behind closed doors or disrespected them in front of their peers.

If you don’t want to lose that employee, you have to put your personal feelings aside. You may be having an off-day or you may not care for that person personally. Either way, if they’re a hard-working employee and you value them, show it – no matter what. Bite your tongue and smile because it will ultimately lead to a better working environment for everyone involved.

When you show a greater level of respect in all that you do and say, your employees will remember that and also respect you for it.
