Questions to Ask In an Interview

Being the interviewer is much different than being interviewed. You are going to be the one in charge of how the interview goes. In fact, you are the one who gets to ask the questions. Unfortunately, you have to be careful. There are some questions that you can ask and others that you can’t.

Here are some questions that you should ask anyone that you interview.

What is your biggest strength and weakness? The whole point of an interview is to find out more about the person, things that you can’t figure out from a resume. By talking about their strengths and weaknesses, you can make sure that he or she would be a good candidate for your business.

What is a tough decision that you had to make in the last few months? This is a good question that you shouldn’t forget to ask because it allows you to see how potential employees work through tough decisions. You can see how they think through problems. You can also see how willing they are to work through difficult decisions.

Why are you leaving your current job? This is a good question and hopefully, you won’t just get a generic response about a boss or another employee that you can’t stand. You also don’t want to see someone bad-mouthing a company that they work for. However, this question can show you what a person has learned through their current company and why they want to move on. They may be moving to a new location, or they want to find a place where they can continue to grow. These are the answers that you should be listening for.

Do you have any questions for me? Though this may seem like a silly question to ask, the truth is that you are going to want to hire someone who has some questions for you. This means that they are curious about the job, and they just want to learn more.

You need to be prepared with some questions before you step into the interview. You are going to want to ask about their strengths and weaknesses and how they work through problems. You shouldn’t forget to ask them if they have any questions for you!
